The telephone is one of the few items that was purchased as part of the renovation, but they did have a similar telephone here and there was a 1944 Beaumont telephone directory attached to it when we found it. We suspect that, as they were the type to hang on to all their belongings, there might be several telephones in collections, but during this time period, phones had to be returned to the phone company in order to get the newer model.

During the restoration, a worker was repairing the stairs and could see something shiny underneath the landing. Upon further investigation, they opened the hall closet door and found a secret entrance under the stairs! This was another hiding place for the family's valuables.
