Wash House
The wash house was for laundry and bathing. The women would use a laundry fork to stir the clothes around in a pot of boiling water outside over a fire. They would then lift them out, and put them into a big pot of clean cold water. Finally, they would use the washboard and homemade soap to scrub the clothes on the board, rinse them in another pot, and lay them out to dry. Laundry would often take the entire day to complete!
